It’s going to get cold

Those thinking warmer weather was on the horizon entering into Spring are about to get a cold shake-up this weekend with Wairarapa set for below-freezing temperatures. Metservice has forecasted temperatures to reach as low as minus -2 degrees in the region, with the main brunt of the cold snap set to hit this morning. Metservice meteorologist Luis Fernandes said while most of Aotearoa will experience clearer and drier but cooler conditions for the start of the weekend, it would remain wet, cold and windy for Wairarapa. He said the freezing weather was likely to continue through to tomorrow, with frosts likely to appear for the region. “Overnight temperatures can take a dive, and that’s exactly what we are expecting this weekend,” Fernandes said.
