Remutaka crash victim named

Police have con rmed the name of the person who died after last Saturday’s crash on Remutaka Hill. He was Christopher Mclean, 55, of Levin. Last Saturday morning, Mclean’s truck rolled down a bank on the Remutaka Hill.

Police con rmed at about 5pm that night that the driver had died in the crash. “Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time,” a police spokesperson said. An investigation into the circumstances of the crash was ongoing.

The road was closed to tra c while emergency services responded.

The road would be closed next week from 9pm on Wednesday to 4am on Thursday while Waka Kotahi started the process of retrieving the truck and container.
